Abstract

This study aims examine the stereotypes that depicted in Disney film Mulan (2020), this study uses an orientalism perspective by Edward Said, orientalism is a western style for dominate, reorganize and rule the East through an observation east. Subjugation, abuse, and distortion occur under the guise of compassion, and Edward Said brought attention to these problems in his wellknown book Orientalism.This research method is descriptive qualitative. The data used in the thesis is in the form of visual and text. The writer discovered that Orientlism and cultural stereotypes was portrayed with various ideas and ideologies hidden in the Disney film Mulan, offering knowledge to people interested in this phenomenon. This was discovered after researching and analyzing the movie Mulan. The social positioning of whose culture, tradition, and way of life were on purpose valued or rejected in the movie characters in relation to actual situations was also revealed by this thesis.
