Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find types of spatial deixis and encode of spatial deixis in the Sour album song by Olivia Rodrigo and to identify the relative positions between the speaker and the listener, also state context in the lyrics that the speaker wants to convey. The study employs qualitative descriptive methods, while data is obtained by poring over and observing lyrics that contain spatial deixis. The study applies the theories of Levinson and Cruse to the types of deixis, theories from Huang for context relations, and Yule theories to explain the reference. Based on the results of the selected data, there are 6 types of spatial deixis found on song lyrics in the sour album, there is proximal, distal, proximal demonstrative, proximal adverb, distal demonstrative, distal adverb. All types of spatial deixis in this study are used in general to explain the distance between the speaker and the listener based on the objects called by the speaker. According to the types and encode spatial deixis found on the data, then analyzed by meaning, context and reference.
