Abstract

The drilling method was hoped to be able to improve students'' vocabulary mastery. In this study, the researcher used a quantitative approach where statistical data has a role to help decide the hypothesis. In this study, the independent variable (X) is the improving students’ English vocabulary, and the dependent variable (Y) is the result of using drilling method. The writer used the pre-test and post-test in this research. Results of the hypothesis test above, which shows and answers the formulation of problems and hypotheses. It was interpreted that there was an effect of improving students’ vocabulary by using the drilling method in HKBP Kompas Indah, this can be proved from the results of the pretest and post-test, there was an increase in the results of pre-test and post-test. Students’ mean score of post-test experimental group (89) was higher than pretest experimental group (74) with gained 15 score. Therefore, drilling method are quite effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery in Sunday school HKBP Kompas Indah.
