Abstract

Seeing the rampant development of TikTok in the midst of this era, it makes the writer interesting to identify how much effect TikTok has on the mastery of English vocabulary in first grade students of SDN Karangasih 01. Vocabulary is an important part of mastering English. Some students when speaking English the main problem is the lack of vocabulary mastery. This problem also occurs in first grade students at SDN Karangasih 01. This research is an experimental research with a sample of 72 students divided into two classes. The first class of the experimental class was 36 students and the control class was 36 students. To collect data, the writer uses a pre-test and post-test. In both classes the writer will give the same pre-test. After that, the writer will give a post-test to the experimental class that was given treatment using the TikTok application while the control class will be given conventional learning. When both tests are completed, it can be seen the significance difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the two classes. The data is processed using SPSS software to determine descriptive tests, normality data, paired sample T-Test tests, homogeneity values and independent sample tests (hypothesis tests). The test will later see the difference in significant values. The experimental class has an average value of 78.33 while the control class is 56.67. It can also be seen the difference through an independent sample test which shows the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 which means it is smaller than the alpha value, which is < 0.05. From this value, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. This means that the use of TikTok application has an effect on English learning for first grade students at SDN Karangasih 01.
