Abstract

This study aims to determine how the students' ability to use pronouns and use pronouns in writing paragraphs in 6th grade at the Athena private primary school North Tambun. The subjects of this study were twenty-two students consisting of 12 male students and 10 female students. The research method is quantitative. The implementation of this research includes the observation stage, test 1 is in the form of 15 questions with two answer choices, the second test is in the form of 20 questions with two answer choices. Then the third test is writing paragraphs, before that, the researcher applied the communicative method, namely by forming small groups of students into pairs to ask each other about themselves and record their answers. On test 1, students got an average score of 83.94, on test 2 the average value of students was 78.64 while on test 3, they were assessed using a rubric consisting of content, organization, vocabulary, language and mechanic criteria. In the paragraph writing test, the student's average score is 85.59. The average score of students from the three tests is 82.72. From these data, it can be seen that the students ability to use pronouns in paragraph writing is in the average category towards good. While the ability to master pronouns is above the minimum value in English lessons.
