Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out the gender construction in The Danish Girl film through Lili Elbe as the main character. This research took place at home during this Covid 19. This study uses a qualitative method. The main theory used for this research is from Judith Butler with his book entitled Gender Trouble. As a result of the data that has been analyzed, it can be conclude that Lili Elbe experiences gender construction that is driven by social and cultural conditions. Lili Elbe used to be a guy named Einar Wegener. This gender construction arose at the encouragement of his wife which made him as a woman, which started just for fun but it gone too far. How other people in the movie perception is vary, it can be seen what kind of any perceive that happened in Lili’s gender construction.
