Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the types of figurative language found in 5 Seconds of Summer album song lyrics and analyze the meaning of figurative language in 5 Seconds of Summer album song lyrics. The main theory of this research is Laurence Perrine (1978). The method used in this research is qualitative method, while the data is obtained by reading song lyrics and observing words, phrases, or clauses that contain figurative language in 5 Seconds of Summer‟s songs. In this research, only 9 types of figurative language are found within the 10 selected songs consisting of 40 data. Metaphor is the most frequent figurative language used in the album's selected songs, accounting for 42.5% of the total, and the least used figurative language is Synecdoche and Paradox with the percentage of 2.5% each.
