Abstract

The purpose of this study is to aim at the kinds of archetypes and it functions that influence each other on each plot in the story that is in each character in the Almond novel by Sohn Won Pyung. This research was applying a qualitative descriptive method of data analysis. This study applied the theoretical ideas of Carl Gustav Jung about the main basic map of the soul of a human being which is inherited from the collective unconscious ancestors so that it can be projected in every character. The archetypes are divided into two parts, the main archetypes include the four kinds it is persona, shadow, anima or animus, and self. On addition, the additional archetypes in the story are the great mother and wise old man archetypes. All archetypes in a character can be controlled when a character is aware of the existence of their collective unconscious archetypes. All of these archetypes influence each other's archetypes on other characters and also the plot in the story as a source of problems or as a solution to existing problems.
