Abstract
This research discussed obsessive love disorder as depicted in the film YOU (2018) by Lee Toland Krieger as a director. The aims of this research are to analyze the depiction of obsessive love that is described in Joe Goldberg and its impacts on him. Qualitative methods are used in this research. The data used in this research are 34 pieces of data, consisting of visual data taken from scenes in the film and verbal data in the form of Joe Goldberg's dialogue. The focus of this research is how his actions show obsessive-love disorder. This research uses theory of obsessive love by Susan Forward & Craig Buck and Susan Peabody to explore obsessive love impacts the thoughts and actions of the main character. Particularly the fear of being rejected and how his love obsession leads him to do horrible acts, even murder. The study's results show that Joe Goldberg is a highly obsessive character, willing to go to any lengths to maintain his object of obsession, which ends tragically.
