Abstract

This research aimed to improve writing ability through the implementation of WordPress for students of second semester in STBA JIA. The subject of the research is nineteen students including thirteen female and six male students. The method used is classroom action research that shows the implementation of WordPress in writing. In this research method there are four phases namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. To practice the implementation of WordPress, the researcher instructed the students to write descriptive text in their personal WordPress account. They also applied peer review as a further activity. In this peer review, the researcher asked the students to correct each other from the result of their writing. The researcher carried out test (pre-test, post-test cycle one and cycle two) and observation for collecting the data. The result of this study shows the average score of the pre-test is 58.02 and the percentage of students who get a score of 68 is 15.78%. The student writing ability improved in the post-test of cycle one where the average score was 69.86 and the percentage of students who scored 68 was 47.36%. For the post-test of second cycle, the average score of 80 and the percentage of students who scored 68 were 84.21%. The result of second cycle met the criteria of success therefore it can be concluded that the implementation of WordPress improved students writing ability.
