Abstract

This study is aimed at knowing the relationship between vocabulary ability and listening comprehension on 4th semester English Department in STBA JIA Bekasi. The population is 87 students and the sample is 30 respondents. The implementation of the research was conducted from February to August 2020. The methodology of the research used is quantitative method with correlation technique. The steps of the research include: (1) Identify, choose and formulate problem, (2) Arrange the term of thought to prepare all things needed in the research, (3) Formulate the hypothesis, (4) Design the question of the test, (5) Assess the test. After completing the research, the data were analyzed using statistic technique with Product Moment Correlation formula to find the result of this study. It shows that the robserved was 0.862 and the rtable 0.306, it means that robserved ≥ rtable .Thus, there is positive correlation between vocabulary ability and listening comprehension.
