Abstract

This research aims to determine the rhyme scheme and grouping the types of word repetition in selected song lyrics of Rendy Pandugo on his first album "The Journey". The author began the study in early October 2019 until the end of July 2020. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The research studies were taken from several sources that supported the main theories which are the theory of rhymes by Marjorie Boulton and the classification of word repetition by Geoffrey Leech. The author involved 6 pieces of songs in analyzing this paper and obtained 38 data. From the results of this analysis, it shows that in selected songs made by Rendy Pandugo on the album "The Journey" contained various kinds of repetition patterns and rhymes that are well-organized and sounded very beautifully. Those elements played as important component in a piece of music so that it can be easily accepted by listeners and song lovers
