Abstract
This research entiled the effect of using SQ4R technique towards students reading comprehension at the first semester of the eight grade of SMPN 11 Tambun Selatan is intended to obtain empirical evidence and significant result regarding student’s SQ4R technique abilities which are associated with their ability to understand reading comprehension of English. The population of this research in eight grade of SMPN 11 Tambun Selatan 2019 amounted to 80 students, in which only 20 students taken as samples from this research determined by non probability/non random sampling techniques used quota sampling. The collected data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Special Sciences SPSS and Microsoft Excel 2010 from of the SQ4R technique towards students reading comprehension at the first semester of the eight grade of SMPN 11 Tambun Selatan. The result of this research is indicated by a value 4.798. This value indicates that there is a high relationship between the strategy of SQ4R technique towards students reading comprehension with significant value of t table obtained 1.729 so t count > t table or 4.798 > 1.729. Therefore the conclusion obtained is Ha is received.
