Abstract

This paper is aimed for investigating the use of eclectic method for improving the students’ writing ability in EF Teens and Kids-Kalimalang course. To apply the eclectic method for students’ writing ability, the four square writing method and classroom writing performance are used as the students’ treatment. The classroom action research is used for this paper. The researcher conducted the tests pre-test and post-test for gaining the data. The implementation of the research is conducted from March 12th 2020 to August 9th 2020. Descriptive analysis is used to find the teaching techniques applied in EF Teens and KidsKalimalang course. The method of the research is using quantitative method which presented the students’ improvement after getting treatments using the techniques. The mean score of each test was compared to know the outcome. The research result shows the positive improvements from score of pre-test was 68.46 to the post-test in cycle 1 was 74.02 and the post-test of cycle 2 was 79.13. In addition, the research shows the eclectic method facilitates the teacher to combine any learning techniques based on the students’ needs
