Abstract

Using qualitative methods, data was gathered by observing character dialogues that reflect power control and examining the movie’s production and consumption. Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis for the matter of power as control and Norman Fairclough's theory was applied to analyze discourse dimensions. The research found that power in face to face at (83.33%), with hidden power at (16.67%), and identified three key values: experiential (50.45%), relational (35.49%), and expressive (14.06%). The second dimension focuses on how C.J. Clarkson shaped the text through character dynamics, highlighting power in language and character portrayal. Audience consumption showed positive feedback on Anatomy of a Scandal (2022). The third dimension considers the movie’s production during the pandemic, depicting familial power amidst scandal. Netflix is the sole institution behind the movie’s creation, with the movie portraying high-level national institutions.
