Abstract
The aim of this study is to classify the types of maxims that are violated, to describe the conversational implicature resulted by violating maxims, and to find out the type of violating maxim that most occurs in The 100 series. This research studies about the violating of maxim that found in the conversation of The 100 series season 1. To achieve the aims of the study the writer uses Cutting‟s (2002) theory in analyzing the data. This research is a qualitative research in which the writer interprets the utterances which contain the type of violating maxims in the series. The result showed that 25 utterances of violating maxims were identified made by characters in The 100 series. In this study, the writer found all types of violating maxims occurred in The 100 series, which is the maxim violation of quantity, quality, relevance, and manner. There is violating maxim of relevance with 13 data or 52%, violating maxim of quantity with 7 data or 28%, violating maxim of quality with 3 data or 12%, and violating maxim of manner with 2 data or 8%. So, it can be concluded that the type of violating maxims that occurs most frequently is violating maxim of relevance.
