Abstract

This study aims to look at the slavery aspect from the book of Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, to acknowledge the aspect of slavery and how it connected to the subject of sociological. The method that were used on this thesis is based on analysis, qualitative. The method that the writer use is by taking a quotation from the novel and analyzed whether the novel described the acts of slavery throughout the novel. The analysis using the methods by Lucient Goldman about Sociology of Literature to find the aspect of sociology through the eyes of slavery. In order to find the correct data and analyzed it, the writer found 41 datum and analyzed it throughout the data the writer found some aspect of slave where they impacted through the mental, physical and social aspect that impacted to the slave. While the aspect of historical is correct through the real historical aspect of the novel and lastly how they were taken from the aspect of sociologic.
