Abstract

This study highlighted on the development of a website called Conversational English Media (CEM). The research took place in SMP Strada Budi Luhur, Bekasi, West Java. CEM is developed under simplified instructional design by Febriana (2016) which was modified from Borg and Gall (1983). Febriana simplified the 10 stages of Borg and Gall into 3 stages which consist of; preliminary study, development, and validation. The researcher applied mixed methodology using questionnaires, interviews and observation as the instruments. The main focus of CEM is to provide students and teachers with learning media to support conversation class, such as dialog videos, grammar and vocabulary text, and practice videos. The results of students’ need analysis was the necessities of a new learning media which could improve their confidence in conversation, even more so in pronunciation. As the results in the validation stage, CEM was fulfilling the gaps of need analysis. It provided relevant materials with easy-to-digest videos that could be utilized in pronunciation or conversation practice. CEM itself consists of several contents,namely dialog videos, grammar slice, vocabulary collection, and alternative response videos.
