Abstract
Great Teacher Onizuka or GTO is a film series by Tohru Fujisawa adapted from the manga of the same name in 2012 with a school-themed Slice of Life genre. This movie has 11 episodes and 3 special episodes with a duration of about 45-60 minutes each in its 11 episodes and 90-120 minutes in its special episodes. This movie tells the story of a man named Onizuka who becomes a teacher in a class of people who have life problems at school and outside of school. Here Onizuka tries to teach students and other teachers what it means to live in school and it risks endangering his life. This research aims to see whether Onizuka represents his educational ideology in the movie and whether the positive influence of his educational ideology in school for students and teachers in the school. The data used in this research is a collection of scenes and dialog contained in the film Great Teacher Onizuka. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation and documentation. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis. The results obtained from this study are Onizuka is a teacher who has a Liberalist ideology with a little Anarchist ideology, because Onizuka always helps his students who are in trouble and cares about them, and Onizuka is not concerned with the distance between teachers and students so he can easily relate well with his students which signifies this liberalist ideology.
