Abstract

This research aims to find out the single complement form which creates intensive verbs in “Orientation” short story by Daniel Orozco. The short story is taken from e-library “Kindle”. This research applied qualitative method, and the data were collected from the sentences contain single complement form which creates intensive verbs in “Orientation” short story. This research applies theory of Noel Burton-Roberts (2011) for single complement form which creates intensive verbs and their functions. The result of this research found 30 data in “Orientation” short story which describe the forms of single complements and shows what their functions in creating intensive verbs. The forms of single complements which found in “Orientation” short story are 15 Noun Phrase (50%), 11 Adjective Phrase (36,67%), and 4 Prepositional Phrase (13,33%). Based on the data, the dominant form of single complement is Noun Phrase.
