Abstract

This study aims to find the transposition in the novel King of Scars and to identify the word changes about translation acceptability. This study applies the qualitative method, the data obtained in this analysis by reading carefully and observing words or sentences that contain kinds of transposition based on the English version of the novel King of Scars, and the Indonesian version of Raja yang Terluka. This research applies the theories of Vinay and Darbelnet for the kinds of transposition, and Nababan theory to determine the acceptability of translation. Based on the results of the selected data, the types found in this novel are 4 data (13%) for adjective into noun and verb into noun, 3 data (10%) for adverb into noun, adjective into noun, and pronoun into noun, 2 data (6.6%) for adverb into noun, and pronoun into adjective, then 1 data (3.3%) for adverb into adjective, conjunction into verb, verb into preposition, verb into adverb, pronoun into verb, and noun into preposition. All the types in this study are shown as examples of meaning shifts from English into Indonesian.
