Abstract

The aim of the research is to explain the phonological behaviour of the suffixes. The subject of the research is Two by Two Novel by Nicholas Sparks. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The author collects the data through a literary and library study. This research applied the theory of Francis Katamba (1993) in analyzing the data. The process of analyzing data are choosing the sentences on data provided which have suffix, describing those data, analyzing the data found by explaining the data, then make the conclusions. The author found 25 datum in those novel. Eleven neutral suffixes –ly (44%), two neutral suffixes –less(8%), three neutral suffixes –ness(12%), five non-neutral suffixes – ion (20%), two non-neutral suffixes –ic (8%), one non-neutral suffixes –th (4%) and one non-neutral suffixes –ist (4%).
