Abstract

This research entitled the influence of skimming reading strategy to student’s vocabulary comprehension in SMK PGRI 1 Tambun 2019 is intended to obtain empirical evidence and significant result regarding student’s skimming reading strategy abilities which are associated with their ability to understand Vocabulary of English. The population of this research in 2 vi nd grade of SMK PGRI 2 Tambun 2019 which amounted to 86 students, only 30 students taken as samples from this research determined by non probability / non random sampling techniques used quota sampling. The collected data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Special Sciences SPSS and Microsoft Excel 2007 from this research indicating that there was a significant influence between the ability of the skimming reading strategy on vocabulary comprehension in 2 nd grade of SMK PGRI 1 Tambun. The result of this research is indicated by a value 33.233. This value indicates that there is a high relationship between the strategy of skimming reading to student’s vocabulary comprehension with significant value of t table obtained 2.045 so t count > ttable 33.233 > 2.045. Therefore the conclusion obtained is Ha is received.
