Abstract

The aims of this research are: 1) to analyze and interpret the elements of romanticism are contained in all characters, events and dialogues in Bridgerton Series 2020 Season 1. 2) to analyze and interpret what types of romanticism are contained in all characters, events and dialogues in Bridgerton Series 2020 Season 1. The data objects used in this research are 30 data in the form of visual data taken from scenes containing romanticism and verbal data in the form of dialogues from all characters who commit romanticism in Bridgerton Series 2020 Season 1. In this research, the researcher used qualitative methods. The results showed: 1) 4 elements of romanticism including the natural element consists of 4 data, the imagination element consists 4 data, the egoism element consists of 10 data and the emotional element consists of 22 data. In this research, the researcher uses the theory proposed by Laura K. Egendof (2001). 2) 4 types of romanticism including the affection type which consists of 9 data, the friendship type consists of 6 data, the eros type consists of 9 data and the charity type consists of 5 data. Emotion is the most important and fundamental element in romanticism. In this research, researcher used the theory proposed by C. S Lewis (1958).
