Abstract

This study provides an explanation of how to find out about the correlation of vocabulary mastery and speaking ability on hotel staff in Sunerra Hotel Cikarang. This research is a quantitative study with a population of this level is 50 and the sample to be taken in this study is 30 hotel staffs. This research was conducted in June 2021 until July 2021. This research is concerned with the collection of numerics data, namely quantitative research, specially correlation analysis. During implementation, the instruments to take the data are vocabulary test to measure vocabulary mastery and speaking test to measure speaking ability which distributed to the member of population’s samples. The Correlation of Pearson Product Moment Formula is used as the technique of data analysis. After the research was completed, this paper came out with the result that there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and speaking ability. The interpretation of the correlation includes in strong relationship with coefficient of determination 78,32% which means vocabulary mastery give influence for speaking ability. Meanwhile 21,68% is influenced by other variables such as bravery, readiness and habitual of speaking English.
