Abstract

This study aims to find tree diagram of linking verb in the story book. The subject of this research is children’s story book “Winnie the Pooh” which was copyright in 2009. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The main theory of this research is tree diagram theory from Carnie (2006) and linking verb theory from Peter Herring (2016). The number of data in this research is twenty which eight data from linking verb of be, three data from linking verb of sense, and nine data from linking verb of progression. The process of analyzing is: (1) determining the type of book, (2) reading the entire book, (3) marking the verb, (4) classifying data, (5) drawing trees and analyzing, (6) making conclusion. The results showed thet types of be appeared eight times (40%), type of sense appeared three times (15%), and types of progression appeared nine times (45%).
