Abstract

This study aimed to find out about the use of code switching on Deddy Corbuzier‟s YouTube channel. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. This study was conducted from March to August 2020. This study attempts to examine the use of code switching contained on YouTube. This study uses the theory of Myers-Scotton in classifying the type of code switching. This study focuses on the utterance of Deddy Corbuzier on YouTube channel. From these research two types of code switching found in thirty data, such as inter sentential 19 data or 63% and intra sentential 11 data or 36.7%. Besides that, in this research is also found some reasons code switching uses the theory of Chaer and Agustina, such as speaker 4 data or 13.3%, listener or interlocutor 23 data or 76.7%, the presence of third person 0 data or 0%, change from formal to informal 0 data or 0%, and change of discussion topic 3 data or 10%.
