Abstract

This paper is aimed at knowing the process of blending words formed in Time E-Magazine and also knowing the meaning of the blending word itself. Blending is one of the word formation processes in morphology. The result of this process is blending words, a combination of two words to form a new word and has new meaning. The writer collects 30 blending words from Time E-Magazine on October 14, 2019 editions. This paper uses a qualitative method, and the steps are looking for the origin words that formed the blending word by looking at the first and second part of the word, afterward explaining the process of how the blending word is formed and describing the new meaning of two words blended. After completing this research, the writer can conclude that there are three processes to form the blending words, There are three processes to form blending words found in Time E-Magazine, they are: The types of the English blends were blended with overlapping (BLDa) means where the final part of the first word overlaps the first part of the second word and finds 7% of the data. Blends with clipping (BLDb) means reductions of longer forms, usually by removing the end, sometimes the beginning, or both beginning and ending of the word together and finds 86% of the data. And the last, blends with overlapping and clipping (BLDc) means blends which are created by using the last parts of two words and finds 7% of the data in Time E-Magazine.
