Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of presuppositions, the writer focuses on the presuppositions in pragmatic studies, this study uses the theory put forward by Yule (1996), the writer analyze 6 types of presuppositions for data processing and explain each of the meanings of these types of presuppositions. The writer collected data in the form of utterance from all roles in The Girl Who Fell novel by S.M. Parker which contains presuppositions. Presuppositions are identified based on the utterance to be classified into types of presuppositions. From the research, the writer found 32 presuppositions in The Girl Who Fell novel, found 6 existential presuppositions with (18.75%), 2 factive presuppositions with (6.25%), 10 lexical presuppositions with (31.25%) the greatest number of lexical presupposition found in the novel, 5 structural presuppositions with (15.625%), 1 non-factive presupposition with (3.125%), 8 counter-factual presuppositions with (25%).
