Abstract

The research is entitled An Analysis of Social Conflict among The Main Characters in The Pride and Prejudice novel by Jane Austen. These discusses and focus to analyze Social Conflict among the main characters by using Theory of Lewis A. Coser. The purpose of this thesis is to describe: 1) the kinds of social conflict among the main character and 2) cause and effect of social conflict among the main character in the Pride and Prejudice novel by Jane Austen. In analyzed the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative technique. Descriptive qualitative involves describing and interpreting events, conditions or situations. The data were taken from 11 of Social Conflict based on the main characters situation. The results of this study show three kind’s social conflict of main characters among the main characters in the Pride and Prejudice novel by Jane Austen: that is conflict of involving social positions, conflict of interest and conflict of role.
