Abstract
This study focused on branches of bound morphemes which is derivational affixes. The data of the study are on texts of quotes of @happsters‘s posts on Instagram. The aims of this study are first to find out kinds of derivational affixes found in the @happsters posts on Instagram, second to know the reasons that those affixes are derivations the last to know the most frequently kind of derivational affixes. The descriptive content analysis is the method applied in this study. The writer uses the classification of derivational affixes by using Fromkin, et al (2014)‘s theory about derivation which change grammatical classes which included noun derivation, verb derivation, adjective derivation, and adverb derivation. In addition, the theory from Lieber (2009) about derivation without changing grammatical classes are also involved in this study which consist of negative affixes, quantitative affixes, noun to noun, and prepositional and relation affixes. The findings of the study reveal that from 35 posts contains 48 words which consist of derivational affixes. The most frequently found is suffix 38 words with percentage 79%, while prefix has 10 words with 21% percentage and the last is infix 0 words with 0% percentage. Derivational affixes which found and without changing grammatical classes are noun derivation for –ation, -ion, -y, ness, -th, -ity, -dom, -ance, -ment. Then adjective derivation are -less, -ful, -al. Also adverb derivation only found –ly. For the last verb erivation are em- and en-. Then Derivation without changing the meaning by attaching some affixes, such as –ship for noun to noun, negative form such as prefix un-, then prefix over- for preposional and relational affixes, last is prefix re- for quantitative affixes.
