Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain, differentiate, and see the word homonymy that affects daily life, which often occurs in social survival. The data source of this research is the Jakarta Post newspaper. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. For theory, the writer uses theory 1. Alan Cruse, 2. Kdreidler, 3. George Yule. The total data in this study were thirty-five. The research steps included: (1) Collecting newspapers from April 1 to April 30, (2) Choosing the words that won homonymy, (3) looking for the meaning of the word in an English dictionary. - Indonesian language, (4) determining the types of words used only that have more than one meaning, (5) analyzing data from the determined subjects found, and (6) providing results on the results of the analysis. The results showed that it was convincing (60%), deceiving (20%), intimidating (5%), impressive (5%) and annoying (2%)
