Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find two ways dependency in the transitive simple sentence structure in the short story The Little Prince and to identify the function in the sentence by making a tree diagram. This research applies descriptive qualitative method, while the data is obtained by reading carefully and observing words, phrases and clauses that contain two ways dependency in The Little Prince short story. This study applies Burton's theory to determine two ways dependency in transitive simple sentences. By finding transitive simple sentences and making a tree diagram to find out the word class in each sentence. Based on the 15 selected data, in the theory of two ways dependency to find 15 noun phrases, 15 verb phrases and 4 prepositional phrases.
