Abstract

This study is aimed to find out about the value of heroism in the main character, Zorro in Martin Campbell's The Mask of Zorro and The Legend of Zorro. This research used descriptive qualitative method. This study was conducted from March to July 2017. This research tried to understand the value of heroism contained in a film. The writer used theory of heroism by Franco, Blau, and Zimbardo in classifying indicators about heroism. The processes of data analysis in this research are: (1) preparing data, (2) analyzing data, (3) discussing data, and last (4) making data conclusion. This study focused only on the behavior of the main character in the film, from this research indicates that there are twenty-two data of heroism, among which are, in service to others in need 6 (28%), engaged in voluntarily 2 (9%), with recognition of possible risks/costs 8 (36%), in which the actor is willing to accept anticipated sacrifice 2 (9%), and without external gain anticipated at the time of act 4 (18%).
