Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to identify the equivalence of Indonesian translations contained in the Stargirl film. (2) to analyze the translation technique used to translate the Indonesian text in the Stargirl film. The data objects used in this research were 40 data taken from the subtitle contained in the Stargirl Movie. In this research, the researcher used qualitative methods. The results showed: (1) 2 kinds of equivalence, namely formal correspondence consists of 31 data and dynamic equivalence consists of 9 data. In this research, the researcher used the theory proposed by Eugene A. Nida & Charles R. Taber (1982) (2) using analysis of translation techniques including transposition consists of 27 data, modulation consists of 7 data, phonological translation consists of 2 data, there is no equivalence consists of 4 data, then descriptive translation, contextual conditioning, footnotes, standard translations and cultural equivalence for which no data are found. In this research, the researcher used the theory proposed by Benny Hoedoro Hoed (2006).
