Abstract

The aim of this research is to how to translate the poem and find the translation strategies used in the poem Geneva in July. In this study focuses on the meaning in the poem from the source language and target language. This research applies descriptive qualitative method by using documentation technique to collect data. This study applies Leverfe's theory to see the translation strategies used for the poem and Suryawinata's strategy in sentence analysisAs the results. Based on the data that has been found, the author uses two theories, Leverfe's theory which has seven translation strategies and Suryawinata and Hariyanto. The results of the research are literal translation and interpretation translation in Leverfe's strategies and Suryawinata's translation strategies which are subtraction, addition, transposition, modulation, and synonym.
