Abstract

The aim of this research is to assess and identify the translation quality of abstract text, particularly its accuracy, acceptability, and readability, when using Google Translate. The researcher collected the data source from the Japanese Literature abstract thesis in STBA JIA. There are 2 lectures that participate as raters’ to assess the translation quality. Next, the researcher analyzes the assessment from both rater 1 and rater 2 using qualitative method and Nababan et al (2012) theory. The total data from abstracts one to six are 47. The assessment results from rater 1 and rater 2 show that 72% of the data was translated accurately and 28% was less accurate. Afterward, 57% of the data was acceptable and 43% was less acceptable. Then, there is 74% data that was readable and 26% that was less readable.
