Abstract
The purpose of the research is to analyze the couplet translation procedure and asses the translation acceptability in the subtitle of The Sea Beast movie. The methodology employed in this research was qualitative descriptive. This research applied the theory of Peter Newmark for the couplet translation procedure, and the translation acceptability was assessed by using the translation quality assessment proposed by Nababan. The researcher found 30 data of couplet translation procedures. Those selected data were translated using 20 kinds of couplet translation procedure. After that, the researcher used the Acceptability Rating Instrument, which contains three criteria: Acceptability, Quite Acceptability, and Unacceptability, to assess the subtitle of The Sea Beast movie. Based on the results of the acceptability test, which was conducted by two validators, the researcher can draw the conclusion that the subtitle of The Sea Beast movie is categorized as a highly acceptable translation.
