Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mapping of participle phrases in Al Jazeera News articles. The author examines this paper by applying a qualitative descriptive method, then the researcher obtains data by reading carefully and observing words or phrases that contain elements of participle phrases. This study uses the theory of Noel Burton Roberts. Participle belongs to the branch of syntax science, using Noel Burton Roberts' theory which explains the syntax as a whole. This study will discuss several articles contained in the Aljazeera news portal thoroughly based on a syntax that focuses on participle phrases. This study will take several articles from Al Jazeera News which only focus on the participle phrases contained in each active sentence and passive sentences and these are adapted to the structure of sentences and phrases, and adapted to the function of the participle phrase in a sentence.
