Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the equivalence of cultural word translation in Guru Bangsa Tjokroaminoto. This study focuses on analyzing the type of translation procedure and the level of equivalent meaning used to interpret cultural words from the film "Guru Bangsa Tjokroaminoto''. The theory used in this research is the theory of types of cultural word and translation procedures from Newmark and the degree of meaning from Bell. The methodology used in this study is qualitative research. As research material, data were taken in the form of cultural words in the text and narration in the film. After conducting the analysis, the writer concludes that there are 4 types of cultural words used by translators in their translations, namely ecology, material culture, social culture, organization. The type most often used is organization. The writer also concludes that the 6 translation procedures used in it, there are transference, naturalization, cultural equivalence, descriptive equivalence, shifts or transposition, couplets, and footnotes, procedures used the most commonly used is transference. The writer also concludes that there is a level of degree of meaning, namely fully equivalent, partly equivalent. The level of equivalence that is most often used is fully equivalent.
