Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find words that are included into The Meaning of Prefixes in the Russian and Ukraine War in BBC News subtitles. A qualitative method was applied to this research, by obtaining data from collecting data and observing data, then taking every word that has a prefix in in article BBC News, along with analysing the words with Cambridge and Oxford dictionaries as references. The information from these dictionaries is used to verify meaning, prefixes and word class of the data found. This research applied the theory of Katamba (1993) and Fromkin (2017). Based on the result of data analysis, some prefix found in this article are un-, il-, multi-, re, mis-, inter-, and many more. Meanwhile, some types of prefixes found in this article are negative prefix, number prefix, pejorative prefix, locative prefix, etc. Thus, there are 8 types prefix found and several functions of meaning prefix that can changed word class
