Abstract
This study is aimed to explain the syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations in English. The subject of the research is seventeen news in travel news column of The Jakarta Post. The research uses a descriptive analysis qualitative research. This research is used theory from Cruse (2000) as the main theory. The data from this research are twenty five, which include syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations each other. The process in analyzing the data is: (1) preparing the data, (2) analyzing the data, (3) discussing the data, and finally (4) concluding the data. The results of the research show that antonymy emerged four times (16%), synonymy emerged ten times (40%), and hyponymy emerged eleven times (44%)
