Abstract

This research aims to determine the appearance of fricative phoneme and voicing effects that is fortis and lenis in the song “Always” by Bonjovi. The writer arranges this research from March to July 2017. The research uses a descriptive analysis qualitative research. The data from this research are eighty which include 12 data of phoneme /f/, 22 data of phoneme /s/, 2 data of phoneme /θ/, 3 data of phoneme /ʃ/, 5 data of phoneme /h/, 8 data of phoneme /v/, 20 data of phoneme /z/, 8 data of phoneme /ð/, and 0 data of phoneme /ʒ/. The process in analyzing the data is: (1) preparing the data, (2) analyzing the data, (3) discussing the data, and finally (4) concluding the data. The results of the research show that there is no phoneme /ʒ/ (0%), the highest is phoneme /s/ with percentage (27.5 %), and the least is phoneme /θ/ (2.5%). For the highest of voicing effect is fortis 55% and Lenis only 45%.
