Abstract

This study aims to determine the kinds of word classes and grammatical functions of the word in simple sentence which exist in Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets novel by J.K Rowling. This research is held from March to August 2018. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The object data of this research are 27 simple sentences taken from the novel. According to the research finding, there are 132 words with different word classes, as the lowest percentage of the word classes is conjunction (1%) and the highest percentage is noun (36%), and 76 words with different grammatical functions, as the lowest percentage is indirect object (1%) and the highest percentage is subject and predicator (36%).
