Abstract

The aims of this paper are to identify, find and analyze the differences between restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses in Paper Towns Novel by John Green. The writer arranged this research from March to July 2019. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method where the main instrument used in this research is the writer herself was supported by various references obtained from the books of either syntax or methodology research, and several supporting websites. The writer has classified the differences between those relative clauses in the novel. The interpretation data and analyses that the writer took are 21 data from Part One: The Strings and 19 data from Part Two: The Grass. Restrictive Clause gets the amount 30% and Non-Restrictive Clause 70%. The results of this research show that the Non-Restrictive Clause is the types of relative clause that mostly exist in the Paper Towns Novel.
