Abstract

This research is a pragmatic research. The specific aim of this research is explain the utterance that has types of illocutionary act. The source data of this research is movie from Netflix entitled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. This research uses descriptive qualitative methodology research. For theory, the writer use Searle’s theory. Total data in this research is twenty, they are five data of expressive, six data of representative, six data of directive, one data of commisive and two data of declarative. The process to identify the types of illocutionary acts found in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile Movie is: collecting the data from Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile Movie, identifying the data of types illocutionary act based on Searle’s theory, classifying the data based on theory illocutionary act, concluding the data analysis. The results of the paper shows that there are expressive (25%), representative (30%), directive (30%), commisive (5%), and declarative (10%).
