Abstract

This study aims to find out and study the analysis translation procedure in the word or phrase of simile and personification in the novel the lightning thief. The writer conducted this study from March to July 2019. This research method is qualitative research. The main theory used by Newmark about the translation procedures. In Newmark’s book, Newmark give seventeen types of translation procedure. From the analysis process, the total data collected in this study is 25 data. The result of the data is the most data collect from simile is 15 data and personification only 10 data. Then based on the based on the way the writer analysis the data, modulation of translation procedure becomes dominated by a percentage of 56%, naturalisation has 16% and functional equivalent has 16%, then cultural equivalent has 8% and transposition has 4%, that is the result of translation procedure based on Newmark found in the novel The Lightning Thief.
