Abstract

Thisresearchispragmaticresearch.ThisstudyisaimedtodescribethetypesofpresuppositionusedbythenarratorandcharacterinZoyaNovelbyDanielleSteel andtointerprettheimpliedmeaningoftheutterancesinZoyaNovelbyDanielleSteel.Thisresearchisaqualitativestudyapplyingdescriptive-qualitativemethod.ThisresearchcombiningtheoryfromYule(1996)theory,Totaldatainthisresearchissixteen.Theyare3dataofexistential presupposition,3dataoffactivepresupposition,3dataoflexicalpresupposition,3dataofstructuralpresupposition,3dataofnon–factivepresuppositionand1dataofcounterfactualpresupposition.Theprocessofanalysingthedatais:(1)collectingthedatafromZoyaNovelbyDanielleSteel,(2)Identifyingdatabasedontherulesofpresuppositionandentailment,(3)classifying thestatement thaaremadebasedonclassificationof typesofpresuppositionandentailment,(4)concludingthedataanalysis.Theresultofthepapershowthatthereareexistentialpresupposition(18,75%),factivepresupposition(18,75%),lexicalpresupposition(18,75%),structuralpresupposition(18,75%),non–factivepresupposition(18,75%),andcounterfactualpresupposition(6,25%)
