Abstract

The purpose of this research is: 1) to analyze icons, indexes and symbols to interpret the meanings contained in the memes consisting of the game characters "among us" based on a semiotic point of view. 2) To analyze and interpret what types of meaning are contained in all characters on the meme among us. The data used in this research were 15 data in the form of visual data taken from three social media, namely Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. In this research, the researcher used qualitative methods. The results showed: 1) Based on 15 data, 7 of them had a sign of meaning in the form of an icon, then 7 data had a sign of an index meaning and 1 data had a sign of a symbol's meaning.. In this research the researcher uses the semiotic model proposed by Charles Sanders Peirce (2004). This theory reads a triangle of meaning where the process includes seeing signs, classifying objects and interpreting the meaning contained based on the object of the sign being studied.
