Abstract
This research only focuses on translation method of passive sentence in the Pollyanna novel by Eleanor H Porter into its translation Pollyanna which translated by Rini Nurul Badariah. This research is aimed to know how many kinds of translation methods are used in translating passive voice and the equivalence in each sentence. This research uses methods of translation theory from Newmark and equivalence theory from Nida. This researcher is using a qualitative method. Documents method is used in this research as a data collection. The result of this research shows 30 data of passive voice contains 5 translation methods. They are 3 data of literal translation (10%), 2 data of faithful translation (6,6%), 1 data of semantic translation (3,4%), 5 data of free translation (16,6%), 19 data of communicative translation (63,4%). It is interesting to observing translation. There are several aspects that may be uncovered by widening the scope of the study. This research hopefully can be provided information and became one of the references for the next researchers with the same topics.
